Dennis Tan

Dennis Tan, aka Squarewhite, is an artist born in Singapore works and lives currently in Singapore. Tan works predominantly in the medium of sound where he creates objects, sculptures and installations. As an improvisor and an experimentalist, Tan has performed solo and with different musicians in Germany, Finland, Riga, Bangkok, Singapore, Vietnam and Taiwan. He is also a keen perpetrator of DIY electronics, where he builds his own instruments and has conducted workshops in both Eastern Europe and Asia. As a musician, he is a founding member of Sonic Kitchen (Germany) and have developed software for live improvisation.

He has had solo exhibitions at Substation Gallery, Singapore (2014), Treasure Hill Artist Village, Taipei (2013) and Akusmata Sound Gallery in Helsinki (2012). His works have been presented at the 2nd Moscow International Biennale for Young Art, Moscow, Russia (2010), Ostrale ’10 and ’11 Internationals Exhibition for Comtemporary Art, Dresden (2010/11) and Kunstfrühling, Germany (2010).
